Richard Neal ("Dick") Jernigan, age 82, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, in Lake Havasu City.

He is preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles, and younger son, Todd.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Rachel Mackey Jernigan, brother Ron, son Randy, daughters Rhonda Loughran (Gary) and Liz Clarke (Ron). He is also survived by grandchildren Ryan, Katie, Chad, Dillon, Lauren, Kelly, Ramey, and Nevaeh, and great-grandchildren Bree and Amelia, as well as many cousins and friends.

Born in Austin, TX, and raised from age 12 in Santa Ana, CA, he was a resident of Lake Havasu City for the last 38 years.

He was a building contractor and was involved in civic affairs and Republican politics. He was an active boater, fisherman, hunter, and camper, and he loved introducing his children and grandchildren to the outdoors and nature.

Of all his hobbies, though, Ham Radio was his favorite.

He was a member of the London Bridge Amateur Radio Association and the Cactus UHF Amateur Radio Network. His call letters, W7DXJ, were immediately recognized by many.

A memorial service was held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 21st, 2023, at the Elks Lodge, Lake Havasu City, with a reception following.
